The First DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Summit in Cebu

When I found out that Janette Toral, the owner of DigitalFilipino, is bringing another event here in Cebu, I got very excited because I know she is the real deal. The last event that I attended to was the Digital Influencers Marketing Summit in which she also spearheaded.

This time, the event is called E-Commerce Summit. It will be the first here in Cebu. The main intention of this summit is apparently to promote e-commerce here in the Philippines.

Ms. Toral will be joined by prominent e-commerce players and industry practitioners. To name a few, speakers are the following:
  • Jack Madrid, Country Manager, Philippines with the topic of State of E-Commerce and Digital Marketing in the Philippines
  • Atty. JJ Disini, Professor at UP College of Law who will be talking about E-Commerce and Data Privacy: What Every Merchant Needs to Know
  • Dr. Nick Fontanilla, Market Analytics Specialist will be taking up Developing an E-Commerce Measurement Framework
  • Mannix Pabalan, Digital Strategist, Hashtag Digital, Inc. will be speaking about the different Lessons in E-Commerce Marketing: What will work in 2013?
  • Mark Joseph Panganiban, E-Commerce Specialist, with the topic of Lessons Learned in Running an Online Store
  • Chris Ducker, Digital Entrepreneur, who will share about Freelancers Thriving: Online Jobs Growth
  • Orville Tadle – Philippines country representative of who will be talking about Freelancers Thriving: Online Jobs Growth – eLance Experience
  • Randolph Novino, Founder of will be speaking about Using Community, Content and Conversation to Drive E-Commerce Sales
Of course the list will not be complete without Janette Toral who will be tackling about E-Commerce Movers and Shakers, Business, Search, and Social Models for 2013.

There is really a lot to look forward to in this event and I particularly want to know more about how much  freelancing and online jobs have grown since I personally started having freelance jobs in 2010. I can't wait to hear Chris Ducker's talk about this.

I encourage you to be a part of this awesome event. Here are the details:

Climbing Osmena Peak Traverse to Kawasan Falls in Cebu

At 1,013 meters above sea level, we reached the summit of Osmena Peak in Dalaguete, Cebu. It is considered to be the highest in the island. We were welcomed by a beautiful sunset view created by the sun hiding from the slopes of the mountains of Negros.

Trekking from Budlaan to Sirao Peak in Cebu

The Babag trekking group did another adventurous trekking. This time from Budlaan to Sirao; to conquer Sirao Peak.

We trekked thru the Kabang River in Budlaan then climb Sirao Peak which is approximately 750 Meters above sea level.

How we went there:

We met at sunny hills in Talamban then rode a habal-habal (25 Pesos each) going to Budlaan. Then from Budlaan, we went down to Kabang river and started trekking. We passed by 4 wonderful waterfalls then we   trekked to Sirao Peak. This whole trek started from 9 AM and ended at 5PM(where we reached the summit).

From Sirao, we rode habal2 again down to JY square. Fare is 50 pesos each.

Green Pasture at the Green Lagoon Park in Compostela Cebu

Everytime I get to have a holiday break, I always see to it that I spend it with the things I love. One of these things is going to the beaches.

Midway Minkay Beach Resort

Wife and I went to Midway Minkay beach resort as part of my birthday celebration. We agreed to go out more often while we don't have kids yet.
The resort is located in the Municipality of Initao, around a 45-minute bus ride from Iligan city where we live. We took a Rural bus transit with a fare of P85 each person.
The resort staff were friendly and polite. Area was clean and we enjoyed the white sands. We rented a room for two for P1,799 a night with complimentary breakfast. The food was great and there were a lot of amenities that you can enjoy such as renting banana boat, zip line and jet skis.
Overall, we had an awesome time. I highly recommend the place.
Here is a video I created about the resort. Contact numbers and rates are found in the video.
